With so many of the freestones experiencing blown-out conditions, we'd like to remind you that we are a tailwater and don't experience those extreme water conditions. The Rio Grande is flowing at tremendous flows, the San Juan is being blown-out for the spring and even your favorite freestone must be experiencing very high flows. The runoff is expected to last into late June and even later, in some places in northern Colorado. Our water comes out of Sanchez Reservoir, where the levels are rising - offering hope of continued nice conditions on our river sections.
Irrigation water recently started flowing and the fishing has been tremendous, with several nice fish being caught. Be prepared to have to run downstream if you hook into one of these fat, healthy fish. If you happen to have a fish go under one of the banks, do your best to cross the stream, safely, and pull it out carefully. You might even need to give it slack line and see it it will swim out.
We've been making lots of improvements on the ranch and are really looking forward to continue doing so. Give us a call! We'd love to fish with you! - Willie
